Sometimes the effects on our solar panels is underestimated here in South East Queensland, whether on the beautiful Sunshine Coast or the bustle of Brisbane City we simply are at the peril of mother nature and the storms that she can produce.
The panel on the left was the direct result of a hail storm that impacted the Glass House Mountains, Beerwah, Landsborough, Mooloolah Valley and Glenview areas. As you can imagine the hail was of a catastrophic nature towards these particular panels and they immediately were required to be isolated and made safe before any other issues may arise.
When these events happen a good habit is to go outside after the storm has passed and try and have a quick visual check to see if any obvious damage has occurred to your solar system and while your at it go to your solar inverter and check if it has any faults showing up on the screen. This is a good starting place to ensure your home is safe and remember if you aren’t sure call your local solar specialist to check the system over properly.

And remember its not only hail that can cause damage to these systems.
The image on the left is taken from a panel that was not from hail but a lighting strike to this house in North Brisbane and although this panel was obviously damaged the complete array required replacement as the impact caused irreparable damage to the system and it’s components.
I hope this helps in some way and if you aren’t sure about the current state of your solar system call or email the team at Crome on 1300 602 572 or hello@crome.com.au and we would be happy to come and check over your system.
